Case Study 03 · Newgistics / Pitney Bowes

Creating visibility and control across complex enterprise delivery.

When programs share engineering resources, systems, vendors, and operational dependencies, the real job is preserving the organization's ability to make good decisions early.

Challenge

One change could affect several programs.

Multiple strategic technology initiatives shared engineering resources, systems, vendors, and operational dependencies. A change inside one program could create downstream impact elsewhere, making portfolio-level visibility and early decision-making essential.

Approach

Turn status into decisions.

I led planning and execution across Product, Engineering, Data, Operations, Finance, vendors, customers, and executive leadership, managing roadmaps, milestones, budgets, resources, dependencies, and risks across concurrent strategic initiatives.

When dependencies changed, I worked with Product and Engineering to understand the actual impact, available options, timing implications, and trade-offs before escalating.

Executive dashboards, portfolio reporting, and recurring program reviews were designed around a simple objective:

Surface meaningful changes early enough that the organization still has choices.

Outcome

Visibility without bureaucracy.

Multi-quarterenterprise initiatives
Portfolioplanning + dependencies
Cross-functionalteams, vendors, leadership

The operating mechanisms improved visibility, accountability, and delivery predictability across a complex portfolio. More importantly, risks and dependencies were framed as decisions and trade-offs rather than status labels, helping teams and leadership resolve problems before they became surprises.
